He uses a mix of custom and classic instruments including a custom Pavel de la Fuente 6-string bass, a 1974 Fender Precision bass, an Eastman upright bass, and Aguilar amplification for rich tone.

Mike is a professional bass player based in Los Angeles, CA known for session work, touring, and live performance.
He has played with a variety of artists and ensembles across styles including rock, jazz, and pop and is currently a full-time member of the Journey tribute band DSB (Distinctly Journey / DSB Journey Tribute).

Musical Background & Training
• Mike started in music at age six, initially studying ear training and classical piano in Vienna, Virginia.
• He discovered his passion for electric bass and guitar while starting bands in his youth.
• He studied jazz and bass performance, and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electric and Acoustic Bass Performance from Berklee College of Music, supported by a Berklee Achievement Scholarship.
• Studied jazz and world styles with teachers including Bruce Gertz, Lincoln Goines, Oscar Stagnaro, and Brazilian guitarist Filó Machado.

Professional Career Highlights
• After college, Mike spent time in New York City touring with rock band Turbine and internationally with singer/songwriter Lipbone Reading.
• In 2014 he relocated to the West Coast, establishing himself in the Southern California music scene.
Has performed extensively with acts including:
• Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express (featuring Alex Ligertwood of Santana and Jim Mullen of Average White Band)
• The English Beat and The Walcotts (U.S. tours)
• Siavash Ghomayshi (legendary Iranian artist)
• Two NAMM demos with Stevie Wonder—a notable highlight of his playing career.
